Proud and fierce, the bald eagle looks "bald" because the white feathers on the head are in contrast with dark brown feathers on the rest of the body, and in this picture in contrast with the brown tree behind. Eagles can have around 7000 feathers. Big birds, they can be 3 feet tall and weigh up to 9 pounds.
